BELT TESTING INFORMATION (Little Dragons)

Each level of Tae Kwon Do is designated by a specific color of belt. This denotes accomplishment and mastery of specfic skills. A student will begin the belt progression with a white belt. As the student progresses, the color of the belt will symbolize the level of achievement. To move to a new level, the student must be approved through testing. The average length of time that it takes for a student to advance from one belt to another is approximately 4 to 5 months. This time frame will vary from person to person, depending upon that student's dedication and the amount of time that is spent in training, both during and outside of class. When a student is promoted to a new color belt level, they will receive a Certificate of Promotion, which is fully accredited and states the level of achievement.

Each test has a specific number of techniques to learn and skills to achieve. Upon watching your progress, one of the instructors will invite you to the next scheduled testing. Each student will progresss at his own pace and is not required to test at every opportunity.A

Testing fees are separate from class fees. We are a non-profit school and testing fees are sent to the main school in Chicago where records are kept and certificates issued. The current testing fees are $40 and a discount for additional family members. All testing fees must be paid prior to issuing a promonitional certificate.

The following student requirements must be met for a student to pass from one belt level to the next. (1) Mastery of skills (2) A designated number of classes. (3) Either written or oral test of specific Korean terminology rules and phrases. In addition, there are specfic belt level requirements on the chart below. Please note this is just a guide, the instructors will make final determination as to what is tested.
